New train depot moving ahead

Over the next few years a new Lodi train station will be built—about four miles out of town. City Councilwoman Lisa Craig-Hensley, who chairs the San Joaquin Rail Commission, says the new station will be at Highway 12 and the Union Pacific tracks west of town. The new depot will serve commuters and riders between Stockton and Natomas and is called the Valley Rail Sacramento Extension. The station will include bus turnouts, a ride drop-off area, and a passenger parking lot, according to the commission. Construction is supposed to start late this year, with estimated construction completion in 2027, according to Nancy Sarieh, the city’s public info czar. The Highway 12 corridor between Lodi and I-5 promises to look much different than it does today with all the building projects planned.
HEN HOUSE UPDATE: Chick-Fil-A may come to town someday, but apparently not soon. The fast food chain had expressed interest in developing a plot of land on Kettleman Lane between the KFC and Chevron station there. But
