Lodi Police Chief Sierra Brucia, who is retiring at the end of December, has accepted a position as director of San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services (OES). His tentative start date is Jan. 1. OES is the key disaster preparedness agency of the county and has direct responsibility to support and coordinate the efforts of county departments, including providing disaster information, logistical support, among other duties. Brucia, who has spent 30 years in law enforcement, all of it with the Lodi Police Department, was appointed police chief three years ago.
HELPING HANDS: For most people, the season of giving happens once a year. But it happens every Monday on the corner of Tokay and Central, rain or shine, all year. For the volunteers, it’s a ministry. For those who lack the means, it’s a minor miracle.
